Secure treatment to help children in a safe environment.
Youthdale provides emergency psychiatric treatment for Ontario youth under 16 at imminent risk of harming themselves or others, or who are suffering a severe disturbance of emotions, thought, or cognition.
We’re recognized leaders in the medical assessment and stabilization of children with multiple, complex difficulties, especially children with underlying neurological conditions, and those for whom the use of psychotropic medication is an issue.
Our goal is to help children express their feelings appropriately, understand the relationship between emotions, thoughts, and actions, and learn to control their harmful behaviour. To achieve this, we provide:
- A structured and safe therapeutic environment
- An integrative, diagnostic assessment of children and their support systems
- Individual, group, and family therapy
- On-site education
- Support for the child, parents, and professionals planning for the child's continuing care in the community
A team of child psychiatrists, psychologists, neurologists, neuropsychologists, registered nurses, psychiatric crisis workers, and educational specialists cares for children in the Secure Treatment Unit. We also offer comprehensive medical and laboratory services through a partnership with St. Michael's Hospital.
