Day Treatment

Youthdale’s day treatment programs are for youth aged 12–23 years inclusive who reside either in Youthdale’s Live-In treatment homes, in an inpatient unit, in the community at home with their families, and/or independently (if over 16 years of age).* A core element of Youthdale's treatment philosophy is that therapy and education working together will deliver the best results. Youthdale operates day treatment programs in partnership with the Toronto District School Board.

The classroom environment is the core of the treatment model which is augmented with therapeutic activities, individual support and group meetings that combine to help the young person develop age-appropriate interpersonal, life and adaptive coping skills, in addition to academic success.

* Intensive Extended Day Program: 16 up to 19
Transitional Age Unit: 18 up to 24
Live-in Treatment: 12 up to 18
Acute Support Unit & Transitional Psychiatric Units: Up to 18 years of age

All of the day treatment programs are operated in partnership with the district school board through Section 23 agreements in the following locations:

  • Community Day Treatment (2 classrooms located in a Toronto high-school and senior public-school)

  • Classrooms within the Youthdale inpatient programs

Children and youth typically remain in the day treatment program for the length of the inpatient or Live-In treatment. As indicated by treatment progress and need, clients are also supported to transition successfully into regular classroom settings or other academic and vocational programs.
