Inpatient Services
Youthdale provides voluntary psychiatric inpatient services and secure units for severe cases, supporting children and youth from age 10–24 depending on program. Generally clients will have been admitted to other hospital services and utilized a range of other services in the community before coming to Youthdale for emergency psychiatric treatment.

24/7 Crisis Line
The Crisis and Mobile Support Team is the access point for Youthdale’s inpatient programs.
You can access the team by calling 416-363-9990, where we have trained professionals on the line 7 days a week to assess each young person’s risk, mental status, and needs through a telephone interview and intake process.

Acute Support Unit (ASU)
The Acute Support Unit (ASU) is a secure psychiatric inpatient unit that provides emergency admission for psychiatric treatment for Ontario children and youth, who are at imminent risk of harming themselves or others. The goal of admission is stabilization, comprehensive assessment and diagnostic clarity.

Transitional Psychiatric Unit (TPU)
Youthdale’s TPU is a voluntary psychiatric inpatient unit that provides stabilization, assessment and intensive treatment for children and youth who are experiencing urgent emotional and behavioural difficulties but are not at immediate risk of harm to themselves or others.
Ages 10–15

Transitional Age Unit (TAU)
The TAU is a voluntary psychiatric inpatient unit that provides stabilization, assessment and intensive treatment for transitional age youth who have a primary mental health diagnosis with complex special needs that have not been met by services offered in less intensive settings.
