Sanctuary Model
Youthdale is currently implementing the trauma-informed organizational framework called Sanctuary. We recognize the deeply pervasive impact of trauma and adversity and are working to create an organization that supports our staff members in a way that enables them to better care for each other as well as for the clients and caregivers we serve.
Being trauma-informed means that we as an agency understand that the feelings and behaviours we bring to the workplace have influence on the relationships we have with our colleagues, with our clients and contributes to the overall culture of the organization. To be successfully trauma-informed requires all members of staff, in all departments and in all positions, to participate fully in daily practices that actively counteract the effects of trauma and adversity. Some of these practices include appropriately identifying and sharing our emotions with colleagues, asking and offering support when needed as well as regularly creating goals to utilize our strengths and remain future focused.
As an organization, Youthdale is actively working towards being a shining example within the Youth Mental Health sector of Toronto.
We believe strongly in building community and holding ourselves to a high standard.
